Even though nearly two-thirds of families with small children plan on swimming in areas without lifeguards this summer, many people don’t know the right thing to do in water emergencies or how to keep their loved ones safe in the water, according to a new American Red Cross poll. Do you know the correct order of steps for helping a swimmer in danger? Ninety-three percent of those polled did not know. Although “water-wings” do not keep children completely safe in the water, 67% of those polled believe that they do keep kids safe. Update your water safety knowledge, keep your family safe, and enjoy the water this summer. Check out more information at redcross.org/watersafetytips.
