Staff

Volunteer Community Producers have always been the “backbone” of community access television. During the past year (2008-2009), 940 community volunteers donated more than 8,470 hours of service to produce programming for CTV. Volunteer service hours included participation in training workshops, portable camera use, studio use (producers and program guests), and edit equipment use. Countless other hours were contributed by many of these volunteers who used their own equipment to produce programs away from our facilities.

CTV employs a small number of people who perform various roles in training volunteer producers, facility maintenance, program scheduling, and other activities that ensure smooth day-to-day operations and future sustainability. Current full-time CTV employees include:

David Vogel (Email: david@ctvKnox.org) holds a Master's Degree from the California State University - Los Angeles and has been employed at CTV since 1987. In his role as General Manager & Chief Operating Officer, David is ultimately responsible for every aspect of the organization's activities, including: monitoring media & telecom policy & associated litigation, franchise renewal, policy development, fiscal management, facility design, equipment inventory & maintenance, capital improvements, hiring & scheduling, staff supervision and the sustainability & growth of the organization.

He also shares responsibility for staff supervision and day-to-day operations, including: documentation of operational policies & procedures, coordination of staff performance reviews, the collection of facility use data, and the preparation of management reports.

Andrew Cox (Email: andrew@ctvKnox.org) holds a Bachelor's Degree from Middle Tennessee State University and has been employed at CTV since 2010. In his role as Web Access Coordinator, Andrew is primarily responsible for coordination of staff-produced programs, training new producers, and performing the necessary steps involved in receiving and scheduling programs for playback. He also assumes specialized responsibilities associated with website maintenance & web channel promotion.

Dale Mackey (Email: dale@ctvKnox.org) holds a Bachelor's Degree from Grinnell College and has been employed at CTV since 2008. In her role as Youth Coordinator, Dale is primarily responsible for coordination of staff-produced programs, training new producers, and performing the necessary steps involved in receiving and scheduling programs for playback. She also assumes specialized responsibilities associated with outreach to youth.

Jason Oaks (Email: jason@ctvKnox.org) holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Tennessee and has been employed at CTV since 1992. In his role as Media Coordinator, Jason is primarily responsible for coordination of staff-produced programs, training new producers, and performing the necessary steps involved in receiving and scheduling programs for playback. He also assumes specialized responsibilities associated with outreach to non-profit organizations.

Part time Student Interns have always been welcome at CTV. Through various partnerships with the University of Tennessee, Pellissippi State Community College, Knoxville College and several area high schools, CTV has provided valuable opportunities for student interns. Typically, student interns are given the opportunity to work with our production technicians and perform work on defined projects. At any given time throughout the year, CTV may be providing practical work experience for as many as one or two student interns.
