Community Shares

Community Television of Knoxville is a proud Member of the Community Shares of Tennessee. A statewide federation formed in 1985, Community Shares funds more than 50 nonprofit grassroots organizations, all of which work to address the root causes of problems that we as individuals and communities face. Community Shares believes all Tennesseans deserve a clean environment, affordable health care, good jobs, culture, art, and freedom from violence. Hence, many Community Shares groups work on issues such as hunger, health care, domestic violence, free speech, education and environmental issues.

Community Shares gives community residents a choice in how they spend their charitable dollars through workplace giving campaigns. Community Shares’ workplace giving campaigns allow residents to designate their money where they want it to go. Designated gifts are passed directly to the groups they specify – like CTV. Undesignated contributions are divided equally among all full member agencies.
